Thanking donors

Context

A highly requested feature, added to the roadmap with a clear goal: deepen user engagement and drive platform growth. We built a dedicated thank you flow for donors, underpinned by a notifications infrastructure developed specifically for this release, expanding the foundation for future communication features across the app.

Notification Infrastructure

Before we could build out the thanking donor features we need to be able to pull users to the app via notifications.

Early Problem Framing

Users will want to thank donors at the point of receiving a donation, when gratitude is most emotionally immediate. However, we anticipate that higher-volume fundraisers may defer this action to a more convenient moment.

We believe users will default to bulk thanking as the path of least resistance, but will place higher value on individual acknowledgements when donor relationships are more personal or the donation amount is significant.

User Research

As part of our commitment to an insight-driven product development process, we cultivated a longitudinal user panel of 50+ participants via WhatsApp, engaged continuously throughout the givestar lifecycle. This channel functions as an always-on feedback loop, allowing us to validate hypotheses quickly, reduce decision-making risk, and sustain the momentum needed to meet roadmap milestones.

User Journey

User testing insights led us to validate a contextual prompt strategy, surfacing the interaction at the point of donation, the moment of highest user intent. The resulting proposed user journey is detailed below.
